Arrived Avenel in 1870 - Initially took up business in Henry St - now old Hume Highway opposite Imperial Hotel (F. Bryant) on early maps as a Store-Hotel. In 1873 he opened a Butcher's shop in Bank St - Avenel
Approx 1880 he moved up to Winterfold - Upton Rd where he took up Sheep Farming. He was one of the first residents in Avenel to have a motor car. He was also a JP and a member of the Avenel Water Trust. He also laid the foundation stone at St Pauls Church in Avenel in 1913 when it was build. He is also believed to have lived at 8 Queen St - Avenel. Buried Avenel Cemetery – Unmarked Grave
