After many years I went looking for any Edjudina history particularly from the period around 1985 and 1986. I was only 18 at the time and my father who was the mine surveyor at Porphyry around that period got me some labouring work around site during Uni breaks. I ended up doing everything around the plant from work the mill, the crusher, gold room, labs, planting a ton of trees around the airstrip road and driving just about everything with four wheels. I worked the CIP plant on night shifts and there was nothing like watching the sunrise from the top of the CIP deck. But is was the people, because I was the youngest there they all told my Dad whenever he wasn't onsite that they would look after me so I had a whole crew of surrogate parents looking out for me and they did. Plenty of nights in the wet mess, we built the outdoor area including the biggest BBQ I had ever seen, became a member of The Animal Club and had that famous t-shirt. We also took the big rock from the pit up to the High Chapparelle, another great meeting place. I loved every minute of it.
