Mungindi is a village on the Carnarvon Highway in north New South Wales situated about 430km west-southwest of Brisbane (show me) (the nearest capital city). Sydney (show me), the capital of New South Wales, is about 580km south-southeast of Mungindi. Mungindi has a population of around 640 and is one of the smaller towns in Australia. Mungindi is at an elevation of approximately 161m above sea level. The nearest sea is the Tasman Sea which is part of the South Pacific Ocean about 420km east-southeast of Mungindi.

Mungindi is on the Barwon River.

The nearest more populous place is the town of Moree which is 98km away with a population of around 9,300 (show me a map with Mungindi and Moree).

Mungindi is on the intersection of the Carnarvon Highway and the Caloona Boomi Road.
