Compared to the rest of Australia, Mackay experiences exceptionally high rainfall. Daytime temperatures, overnight temperatures, wind speed, humidity levels and numbers of clear days are above average. Numbers of cloudy days are average.

Mackay has a wet and a dry season. The wet season in Mackay begins around November and ends around May. Over the course of the wet season, Mackay receives around 1814.9mm of rain.
