Lord Lamington reads the Proclamation of Commonwealth from a balcony of the Treasury building. Crowds are gathered below in William Street to hear him and watch the Federation Day procession passing by. The view is from William Street, near the corner of Queen Street, with the Treasury building on the right. The Treasury is decorated with palms and flags with spectators visible on the balconies. The soldiers, standing at attention with rifles at their side in the foreground of the photograph, are wearing white jackets and white helmets. A photographer can be seen at work, in the centre left of the shot, standing on the back of a cart. Many in the crowd are wearing boater hats while one gentleman standing in the immediate foreground next to two ladies is wearing a top hat.

The Commonwealth Procession passes from William Street around into Queen Street on Federation Day. The view is looking down William street with the corner of the Treasury building on the left. A crowd of spectators have crammed the footpaths to witness this historic event. The Australian Natives' Association float, with Britannia aboard, can be seen on the right. The Free Public Library is visible in the background on the right side of William Street. Many in the crowd are wearing boater hats. Caption: "Commonwealth Procession, Brisbane, 1.1.01. A.N.A. Display."

Children sing to the Duke and Duchess of York in the Domain. Students from the Kangaroo Point Girls State School can be seen in the front row dancing on a platform around a maypole next to another group of maypole dancers. Many of the boys are wearing sailor suits and are waving Australian flags or Union Jacks. A band is playing in front of the platform. Caption: "Five thousand children singing to the Duke and Duchess in the Domain."

The Woolloongabba Fiveways (C)1901.The tram entering Logan Road appears to be a "Saloon "class model--the road on the left is Stanley Street and that on the right Ipswich Road.The photo was taken on the corner of Main and Stanley Streets--at this junction Main Street becomes Ipswich Road.To the local population this intersection is known as the 'Gabba Fiveways.
