At that time there was a little water in the basin, on my visit in 2002 it was bone dry. This old steam engine once pumped water from a well into tanks during drought years. The basin has been full, and history records that waves wrecked the original stone homestead on the Northern Bank. There are white sand dunes on the Eastern shore, but not as big nor as impressive as Lake Mungo.View a larger version of this picture: small | medium | large (pictures open in a new window) This picture is part of the Bonzle Camping (open in new window) photo collection. It is a 6 Km walk from the present Fort Grey camp site across Fort Grey Basin. 'Fort' refers to the coral built to contain the animals they had with them. The old coolibah tree needs supporting by poles.View a larger version of this picture: small | medium | large (pictures open in a new window) This picture is part of the Bonzle Camping (open in new window) photo collection.
