Daly Head is a popular area for surfers and surf fishermen. The Dust Hole beach is accessable from the car park overlooking the beach, there is a timber staircase that takes you down to the beach, it is a reasonable hike down so I suggest take a drink with you. Dangerous rips and gutters are common along the beach, so swimmers beware. For those keen on hitting the waves, it is not recommended that novices take to the water when there is big swells present. For the surf fisherman, there is plenty of opportunities to target Salmon, Mulloway, sharks, and Tommy Ruff from the beach. 4WDers can access the beach from the sand dunes but it is not adviseable to tackle the dunes alone, this is an isolated area and help a long way away. Travel in groups when tackling the dunes and no 2WD's. A few k's to the north of Daly Head is Gleesons Landing where camping is permitted (no camping at Daly Head) and boats can be launched from the beach. Snapper and Whiting can be targetted from the deeper water off Dalys.
