Waterloo is a suburb of south Sydney in east New South Wales and has a population of around 8,500 (53.3% male, 46.7% female). Around 1593 families live in the area and of those 23.7% have one or more children under the age of 15. 26.8% of families have only a single parent while 50.3% of couples have no children. Waterloo covers an area of approximately 112 hectares (276 acres).

The most common income bracket for people living in Waterloo is between $150-$249 per week (20.2% of people). 8.5% have no income and high income earners ($2000 or more per week) account for 3.5% of the population.
