Latrobe is located in north Tasmania and has a population of around 3,500 (49.5% male, 50.5% female). Around 999 families live in the area and of those 39.5% have one or more children under the age of 15. 17.7% of families have only a single parent while 39.1% of couples have no children. Latrobe covers an area of approximately 7319 hectares or around 73 square kilometres (km2) (18085 acres).
