Venables Hut built near the site of the former Stokes Hut which no longer exists. This hut was built relatively recently for the management of cattle grazing in the Goobarragandra valley. The original Stokes Hut was of split timber construction and built closer to the river. The Stokes brothers used it for thir extensive alluvial gold mining operations which are still evident throughout the valley. Many of the out buildings of Venables Hut were made of timber taken from the original Stokes Hut. Most of those out buildings are now demolished. Due to its proximity to the site of the former Stokes Hut, Venables hut is marked on some maps as "Stokes Hut". It is also sometimes refered to as "Plonkey's Hut". There is an extensive bottle repository nearby.

One of the few remaining out buildings near Venables Hut. This structure was used as a black smith shop. The materials used to construct the out buildings were, in the main, salvaged from the ruins of Stokes Hut, which no longer exists. Stokes hut was built nearby, but closer to the Goobarragandra River. Venables Hut had water brought to it by a race cut into the side of the hill, then piped inside the building. Fig, apple and plum trees which grew nearby, have been removed in recent years.

Not the hut, but the stream that was used as the water source for both Stokes Hut (demolished) and Venables Hut (extant). The stream is Dinner Time Creek. A race from this creek providing water to Venables Hut is still descernible. Stokes Hut was built close to this stream. The stream appears free of both algae and tannins which are common in the other tributaries of the Goobarragandra River.
