Photograph to show additions to the No. 2 female patients' ward. (Description supplied with photograph.) The decor shows timber floors, a fireplace with fireguard and stone mantel piece. The iron beds are arranged around the outside of the ward against the windows and along the cetrre aisle of the ward. There is a windsor backed chair next to one of the beds and a cane armchair by the fire. There are no floor coverings but each bed has a light counterpane. In the centre of the room is a refectory table arranged with a wash basin and jug. Light fittings are hanging from the support beams.

The 1974 Brisbane Flood produced the worst city flooding in Australian history after Cyclone Wanda caused five days of heavy rain from 24 January. The total damage cost was estimated at $980 million dollars.
