Darwin is one of the hottest places in Australia. It experiences exceptionally high daytime temperatures, overnight temperatures and rainfall. Wind speed, humidity levels and numbers of cloudy days are above average. Numbers of clear days are average.

Darwin has a wet and a dry season. The wet season in Darwin begins around October and ends around April. Over the course of the wet season, Darwin receives around 1663mm of rain. By comparison, in the dry season from May to September, less than 134.5mm of rain falls in total. At the height of the wet season in January it rains on average 21.1 days in that one month. Indeed, Darwin has experienced as much as 310.8mm in a single January day and as much as 1013.6mm in a single month (March).

Temperatures in the wet season average between 31.4 and 33.2OC during the day and 24 and 25.3OC overnight. Temperatures in the dry season average between 30.5 and 32.5OC during the day and 19.3 and 23.1OC at night.
