Kandos was built largely on the strength of the Kandos Cement Factory that has only in recent years closed down.This is the Kandos main street with the Kandsos Hotel on the corner.

The rotunda in the park is built wholly of cement from the cement works. Kandos cement was also used in he Sydney Harbour Bridge due to its high tensile strength.
