Picture of / about 'Towrang' New South Wales - Towrang Bridge 18391 - Towrang Bridge 1839 (Contributed by: Fredson  7 pictures  )
The Towrang Bridge built across the Towrang Creek was built by convicts from the Towrang Stockade in 1839. The Towrang Stockade was the chief penal camp in New South Wales from 1833 to 1843.

The bridge is on the original like of the Hume Highway. The design uses a segmental arch of dressed coursed sandstone.

Note: the wide angle lens used to capture the bridge from close up makes the top of the bridge look curved when its is in fact flat.

This weir is just above the convict built 1839 Towrang Bridge (used by the Great Southern Road to cross the Towrang Creek).
