Bass Strait is crossed daily between Melbourne and Devonport by Spirit of Tasmania I and Spirit of Tasmania II. This picture was taken well out on Bass Strait during a day crossing from Spirit of Tasmania II and is of Spirit of Tasmania I rapidly receding into the distance as the two ships were each racing towards their destination at some 27 or 28 knots each.
