The Trevallyn State Recreation Park encompasses the Cataract Gorge through which the South Esk River enters into the Tamar River. At its mouth the West Tamar Highway crosses on Kings Bridge, prefabricated in England and floated into position on the tide in 1867. In 1904 a second identical span was built locally at Salisbury Foundry and similarly placed, making a two lane bridge.
