Burdekin River Bridge Opening 1957

Opening of the Burdekin River Bridge, 1957 June 15 by Elizabeth WILLIAMS (nee Gisiger) using Kodak B&W film in a Kodak 620 Box Brownie. Note the police 'hats' (pith helmets), the Union Jack (flag top left of bridge), and the kanakas impeccably dressed in the foreground. No kanakas were noted (some may have attended however) at the 50th anniversary celebrations in 2007 suggesting a change in the Burdekin's demographic.
