Brynhyfryd means Pleasant Hill in Welsh and Lewis Thomas came to Australia from Wales in 1861. He was a poor man who, after 10 years was the wealthy owner of several coal mines. Unfortunately, because of mining in the area where this home was built, the building was declared unsafe and was demolished not long after this photograph was taken.
