Maryvale Station is on Maryvale Creek, off Clarke River, north of Pentland. (Description supplied with photograph) Pentland is located between Hughenden and Charters Towers, North Queensland.

JoanneKlein adds:
Richard Daintree-photographer, explorer and surveyor took over Maryvale Stn in 1864 with his wife and 2 children. It was a joint partnership between Daintree, the Hann Family and 2 financial bakers from Melbourne-Rivett Henry Bland and Edward Klingender. In the 1860's the depression hit and the property replaced cattle for sheep. His geological surveys led to rushes for gold inland from Bowen and Townsville. In 1867 he wentto the Cape River Pentlnd where the rush had set in.
