Canola field and Wild Flowers tourist route.
On the outskirts of Narrogin, WA in Wheatbelt region. Found by basing yourself in Narrogin, plan round trip, during wildflower and various growing seasons around Narrogin. Plan an easy tourist drive in a circuit with few vehicles on the road, and include the following attractions, to what suits your timetable. Head north east to catch the famous once a year fly-in or drive in at Kulin Races, largest water slides in WA at Kulin in the middle of no-where, view Tin Horse Highway funny tin creations along highway, maybe Wave Rock, though I recommend the more impressive to visit to climb is possibly 3rd largest rock in Australia at Kokerbin, is tough in the heat of summer as it's a tough climb up to the top, then follow onto perhaps the next largest unspoilt rock and alot smaller and more convenient to get to at Yillimining Rock said to be linked to Uluru (Ayers Rock), located on outskirts Narrogin Shire. In the evening walk around Foxes Lair, Narrogin opposite caravan park. There's plenty of easy ride mountain bike tracks, plenty of variety for middle aged people and kids. After 5.30pm in summer roos do come out to eat here attracted by the water and grass from surrounding houses, I usually ride past roos around the back. Best way to see them is by mountain bike and enjoy the fresh evening temperature as there's 3-6m tree cover. Riding here at night with friends was a real treat, there's circuits from 1-3km trails, enough to get your heart pumping and pure pleasure in summer/autumn after the days heat. Check out this website on wild flowers when in season, http://www.foxeslair.org/foxypress/yilliminning-rock-and-scenic-tour. and visit Dryandra conservation wildlife park an education centre, for a guided night visit around their enclosure to feed and view endangered local animals. Suggest always telephone in advance on what evening sessions the centre is open, arrange a private tour if time. Head west, include Quindanning pub for lunch in the weekend. Back to Narrogin YMCA Recreational Centre Clayton Rd for a relaxing swim in the modern indoor heated pool, it's one of those rare gems where you get it nearly always to yourself. The town shops closed on Sundays, though pool is open, be prepared to do your own thing. Head south east towards Lake King town for a tour at one of the largest Yabbie crustacean farm businesses. Not flash but it's one of the largest operations for these in Australia. They have a once a year black tie dinner feast I recall October? around the time as the Kulin Races. Link it all up, great tour circuit.
