The Vlamingh Head lighthouse was built in the early 20th century. Its operation was no longer required when a rotating navigation light was installed on one of the VLF towers on North West Cape. During its construction a young worker fell from the lighthouse and lost his life. His grave lies just beyond the caravan park situated below the Vlamingh Head heights. Here the lighthouse reflects the evening afterglow of sunset.
